The Deserted Village up in the Watchung Reservation does its open house Saturday and Sunday, noon to 5, free: cider pressed by a scout troop, guided tours, and a militia soldier at the old graveyard they finally found. Worth the drive.

stroller situation, is there a hayride or flat path from the lot, or am i carrying her up a hill during nap window?

There's a haywagon that runs from the lot, barrier-free access to the main sites, so no hauling her up the hill. Grab the free guidebook at the parking lot while you wait.
